Chapter 30 Magic
Chapter 30 Magic
There was no danger along the way.
Old Man Vivi watched the procession move forward, his vigilance undiminished.
"Master, we've already entered the outer forest. Shall we begin?"
Just then, his eldest disciple suddenly came up to him and whispered something in his ear.
Old Man Wei looked around and pondered for a while before speaking.
"Let's get started. Blindly running around like this isn't a solution."
Elder Wei gestured for everyone to stop, then sat cross-legged on the ground with his eyes closed, and his two disciples stood on either side of him.
The Spirit Searching Technique is a level three magic, a superior branch of the level one magic, the Spirit Eye. Many years ago, when Elder Vi was still a silver-level mage, he had mastered this technique.
When everyone saw Elder Vivi begin to cast his spell, they all stopped to watch. Even if they might not follow the path of magic in the future, they wanted to see if they could learn some tricks to mastering the operation of spiritual energy from him.
As Elder Vi closed his eyes and gathered his spiritual energy, a wave-like magical emblem unfolded from beneath his legs, while a blue eye appeared above his head.
Everyone watched this scene in astonishment. As one of the pathways to rank, the Arcane Academy, which has this pathway, is not like the Holy Light Church, which is also a rank-based magic school, where only elites and those with noble bloodlines can learn the right path.
Although their backgrounds are irrelevant, the requirements are still very high. To become a mage, one needs a wealth of knowledge. Basically, every mage has exceptional intelligence, since constructing magic is a very mentally taxing task.
Magic level does not necessarily represent damage or strength. While higher-level magic is generally more powerful, it is also more difficult to learn and use.
Level 3 magic is in a middle position; it's not as complicated as level 4 or 5, yet it's more effective than level 1. Mastering level 3 magic is what a Silver-rank mage needs to achieve.
Although Elder Vil's strength has declined, his greatest strength as a mage is that his knowledge base still exists. Therefore, even though he is only at the mid-Bronze level, his proficiency in using third-level magic is in no way inferior to those of regular Silver-level mages, and the effect is far superior to other Bronze-level mages.
The Spirit Searching Technique is not a combat spell. Its purpose is to expand one's perception of spiritual energy and increase the range of perception. Originally developed during wartime to search for enemy magic units, it was later used to search for spirit mines.
Since all things possess a spirit, if one wants to use it to find psionic minerals, one needs to reduce the perception of other spirits and instead focus on the perception of large-scale psionic forces.
Places with concentrated spiritual energy generally have an 80% chance of being psionic mines. Therefore, this magic can help find psionic mines more quickly.
Don't underestimate this reduction of psionic perception; it's a technical skill that's difficult to achieve without mastering the finesse of psionic control.
Fortunately, Master Wei was an old mage, and with his extensive experience, he quickly reduced his perception of other psionic powers and focused on large-scale psionic powers instead.
Of course, this technique also has its drawbacks. The user must concentrate on sensing spiritual energy, which weakens their perception of the outside world. Therefore, the user must either place themselves in a safe environment or have a trusted person guarding their physical body.
The role of Elder Vi's eldest and second disciples is precisely this: at this moment, their eyes are as sharp as eagles, scrutinizing everyone present. At the slightest disturbance, they will immediately call upon Elder Vi. Although it takes a few minutes to recover from the Spirit Searching Technique, with their combined strength, they can withstand even several extraordinary beings attacking simultaneously for quite some time.
Because Elder Vi was performing a spirit-searching technique, everyone sat down to rest. The scene seemed peaceful at the moment, but in reality, undercurrents were surging.
Not far away, a bronze-colored frog slowly emerged from the water of a stream, its bright eyes staring straight at Elder Wei and his group.
"Where did this frog come from?"
The man with the mustache stumbled to the stream, intending to clean his wounds. As he did so, he caught a glimpse of a frog nearby. It was the first time he had ever seen such a large frog, but he wasn't surprised. The Black Forest has a rich ecosystem, and while such large frogs are rare, they do exist.
In the past, he would have caught the frog and taken it back. Creatures living in the Black Forest are more or less imbued with spiritual energy, and a frog this size would be worth at least a few hundred copper coins. But now he was still immersed in the pain of losing Kunkun and had no time to care about such things.
Little Frog looked at the androgynous human with a lively expression in his eyes. As far as he knew, humans were usually distinguished by their genitals, but this human was very strange; he was half male!
That's right, Little Guagua's IQ isn't very high. This is how he understands the place where Kunkun was chopped: it clearly has a man's penis, but the front is empty.
How strange!
Gulu~Gulu~
Little Frog blew some bubbles and turned his attention back to the present. The organization had sent him here on a mission, and he couldn't afford to focus on such things.
It was really interesting...
"Croak~ Croak~ Croak~ Croak~ Croak~........"
Little Frog used its croaking sounds to count the number of people in the group, which both concealed the fact that it could talk and confirmed the number of people on the other side. It was a perfect cover-up!
Little Frog is so smart!
Clearly, his little brain doesn't support his ability to do mental arithmetic or even think of it as a method.
Through Little Frog's arithmetic, he successfully figured out the number of Elder Wei's group. Including the half-man, this group made a total of 13 croaks.
Little Frog's eyes sparkled as he got the result, looking very proud. Clearly, completing this "difficult" task made him feel very accomplished.
After indulging in self-admiration for a while, Little Frog was ready to leave this troublesome place. Simply counting the number wasn't enough; he also needed to pass the information on to everyone to truly complete the task.
However, just as he was about to leave using the breaststroke, a hand suddenly landed on him. Little Frog rolled his eyes slightly upward and found that the half-man with the mustache was looking at him with a gloomy expression.
"Hey!"
"You just now..."
"They're laughing at me, aren't they!"
Clearly, the man with the mustache took the frog croaking as a mockery of him, and being so vulnerable, he couldn't stand the harsh sounds.
The scene became tense for a moment. Looking at the gloomy face of the man with the mustache, Little Frog's mind raced.
Oops! Oh no, the half-man has spotted us! What should we do?
What should we do? *Croak*
Quack~ Should we pretend to surrender? Quack~ Or........
Little Guagua's thoughts raced, and he slowly shifted his gaze to the crotch of Little Mustache. As if he had discovered something, his eyes flickered.
"Ah~"
"?"
"What are you going to do?"
"Croak........."
"Quack!!!!"
A cacophony of tongues!
A pitiful scream echoed through the forest once again!
