Chapter 478 - 350: Has the Postdoc Gone Crazy? Starting Consultations
Back in the office,
Qin Feng went to the neurosurgery ICU to check on Xu Chenchen, who was now awake from her coma but looked somewhat uncomfortable.
This is all normal; after a craniotomy, there will be intracranial negative pressure, which is a regular occurrence that requires some time for recovery.
"Director Qin, is Chenchen okay?"
The child’s father asked with a face full of concern.
"Don’t worry, everything is normal at the moment."
Qin Feng glanced at the test report and vital signs report that had just come out an hour ago,
"It will probably take another 3-7 days, and once the intracranial condition stabilizes, she can be transferred out.
You can go in to see her in a couple of days."
"Okay, okay, thank you so much, Director Qin."
The couple thanked him repeatedly, feeling very grateful.
...
In the emergency room hall,
a man wearing sports attire was supporting a teenage boy, walking limply inside.
The young boy had a look of pain on his face, sweating profusely, and appeared somewhat pale.
"Hello nurse, we’d like to register for an emergency visit."
"What’s the matter?"
"It might be a fracture; could you help us register?"
"Okay, please wait here a moment."
After saying this, the nurse brought over a wheelchair, helping the young boy into it and pushed him towards the examination room.
Qin Feng happened to be returning at this time and opened the door to the director’s examination room.
"Director Qin."
"What’s going on?"
Upon hearing his name called out, Qin Feng turned around and saw the approaching wheelchair.
"Ffracture, there are quite a few patients in orthopedic emergency."
"Alright, come in."
Qin Feng nodded, signaling for the patient to be brought in,
"Tell me the situation."
"It’s like this; he’s from Northern City Middle School, and I’m his coach. Half an hour ago, during hurdle training, somehow a rock was thrown from outside the wall.
He stepped on it and fell, injuring himself."
"Okay, I understand."
Upon hearing this, Qin Feng nodded; this was a case for orthopedics. Generally, if it’s a sprain or ligament tear that doesn’t require surgery, it would be more appropriate for orthopedics to handle.
"Doctor, he’s our school’s star athlete, and he has a competition coming up soon. It’s important for us; can you take a look or refer us to a good orthopedic doctor?"
The coach seemed quite anxious.
"Alright, let’s take the shoes off first; let me have a look."
Hearing this, Qin Feng decided to check first, and if the problem wasn’t severe, let orthopedics handle it; otherwise, contact orthopedics to arrange for him to be taken over.
"Ah~"
As soon as the shoe was touched, the young boy winced in pain, unable to help but take a sharp breath.
"Don’t be nervous, relax."
Qin Feng slowly loosened the shoelaces, then completely removed the shoe, lifting the upper part.
Now, the whole external condition of the ankle could be clearly seen; it was severely swollen and had some bruising.
It looked bad!
"Hold on."
After saying, he gently took off the entire shoe, then pulled down the sock, exposing the whole foot.
"What’s your name?"
Qin Feng put on gloves, conducted a simple external examination, and spoke to the young boy to distract him.
"Liu Jin."
"How old are you?"
"17."
"So young, are you a national athlete?"
"Yes, I’m a national level two athlete."
"Oh, that’s impressive!"
Upon hearing this, Qin Feng was quite surprised; 17 years old, running the 110 meters hurdles, already a national level two athlete.
Indeed a promising talent!
"A few months after the competition, I’ll become a national level one athlete."
Unable to resist a bit of pride, the young boy said.
"Haha~ Then be sure to stay safe, protect your legs and feet well, and bring glory to the country in the future."
Qin Feng smiled gently, glancing at him.
At 17, the bones’ ability to recover is still very strong.
Meanwhile, the coach beside him looked tense upon seeing the boy’s foot, frowning nervously.
Liu Jin’s ankle was swollen like a bun, shivering with pain whenever touched, sweating profusely.
Qin Feng extended his hand, gently holding the foot, and with his other hand, slowly probing the ankle along the bone texture.
"Bear with it and don’t move."
After speaking, Qin Feng applied a slight pressure with his fingers.
"Ah~ It hurts!"
Liu Jin cried out in pain, tightly gripping the coach’s arm.
Quickly, Qin Feng withdrew his hand, having formed a judgment in mind.
[Trimalleolar Fracture]
The condition is quite severe!
Generally, eversion fractures have three degrees: one, simple avulsion fracture of the medial malleolus, with the fracture line being transverse or short oblique, and the fracture surface coronal, usually not displaced.
This situation typically doesn’t require surgery; forced reduction and rest for a period allow for self-recovery.
Two, the continued impact, astragalus body striking the lateral malleolus, causing oblique fracture of the lateral malleolus, resulting in a bimalleolar fracture.
If medial malleolus fractures and the tibiofibular syndesmosis are ruptured simultaneously, tibiofibular separation can occur, with astragalus moving outward, leading to tibia fibula lower end separation and possibly causing fracture of the lower or middle third of the fibula due to torsional force.
This situation is more severe, requiring surgery due to ligament rupture and forced fracture.
Three, excessive violence, astragalus striking the posterior tibial joint surface’s rear edge, causing posterior malleolar fracture, a trimalleolar fracture mostly due to rotational violence.
Trimalleolar fractures are the severest type of ankle fracture damage!
They can’t be simply viewed as double malleolar plus one malleolar fracture; the three malleoli should be considered a unified whole.
That is, simultaneous fractures or bone cracks on the medial, lateral, and posterior malleoli in varying degrees.
