Even hybrid monsters have their day

Is there an error in Chapter 139?

"What kind of show are they putting on?" she muttered to herself.

Xu Ruwen glanced at her casually. "You're still thinking about that? Didn't you say you weren't?"

"The sight of so many important figures appearing together is really too eerie. I have a feeling that something big is about to happen."

"Nothing big is going to happen. It's just a small task for you right now." Little White said listlessly. It had been tortured by this matter many times in the past few days and hadn't been able to get a good night's sleep.

Geng Miaowan thought for a moment and said, "That's true..."

Seeing that the passage ahead was pitch black, Xu Ruwen reminded him, "I think you should focus on the task at hand first. If this drags on any longer, it will be difficult to explain when you get back."

Hearing him mention this gave Geng Miaowan another headache. She'd been scolded by Jiao Lingfeng for taking too long on the last mission, so she needed to hurry this time.

"This mission is just to gather information, it shouldn't be too difficult. With the two of us working together, surely we can complete it within the standard time?" Just thinking about the space of this mission made her a little excited again. She didn't expect it to be the same space where she captured Xu Ruwen. "Maybe we can also find the whereabouts of the Nuwa Stone, and it would be best if we could take it back with us."

"You really think too much." Xu Ruwen didn't want to dampen her enthusiasm, but simply spoke the truth, "That Green Mountain Sect, you blew up their immortal cave last time, have you thought about how you're going to tell them?"

"Ah, well..." She accepted the mission and set off without really thinking about this. This mission was to investigate information at the Green Mountain Sect, which meant she would inevitably encounter those people from the Green Mountain Sect. It seemed she really should think carefully about how to explain what happened that day.

Little White didn't participate in their conversation; it had already walked ahead, showing that it was quite excited.

Entering a dark area from a bright one makes it feel particularly dark. When Geng Miaowan and the others walked out of the passage, although there was a faint moonlight outside, it was almost pitch black for them, who had just entered the area.

After their eyes adjusted to the darkness for a while, the two began to follow the path down the mountain.

Xu Ruwen complained as he walked. "Why does it always have to be at night when we go out?"

Geng Miaowan rolled her eyes at him, "Try coming out during the day, what if you scare people to death?"

"You don't have to choose these remote mountains and forests every time. It takes half a day to find someone to ask for directions."

What if we're discovered even though we're not in some remote mountain forest?

"Why are you always taking their side?"

"I'm speaking up for myself!"

Xu Ruwen gave her a disapproving look, but said, "Fine, fine, you're the guardian, you're awesome now."

Geng Miaowan returned his gaze defiantly, "I don't know if the Guardians are powerful or not. But I'm your master now, so I'm definitely a bit more powerful than you."

"Geng Miaowan, are you reminding me of the time you tricked me into signing the soul contract?" Xu Ruwen began to grind his teeth.

"Yeah, I'm afraid you'll hit me." She made a face at him.

Xu Ruwen raised his hand, as if to slap her, but she laughed and ran ahead. Watching Geng Miaowan disappear in a flash, he chuckled and muttered, "This little girl really isn't afraid of me at all." Then he shouted at her loudly, "Slow down. The mountain path is difficult to walk on, be careful not to fall."

After shouting, he quickly chased after him.

"understood."

The two bickered and teased each other, and soon found their way down the mountain.

“There. There, do you see it?” Geng Miaowan pulled Xu Ruwen and pointed to the road for him.

"Okay, let's go quickly."

Just as they were about to head down that road, a sharp scream suddenly rang out, especially loud and startling in the quiet night. She and Xu Ruwen exchanged a glance and looked in the direction the sound came from—right beside the mountain path leading down the mountain.

The two rushed to the mountain road at top speed and, by the faint moonlight, saw two white figures on the road. She was about to go forward to ask what had happened when Xu Ruwen stopped her.

He made a "shh" gesture and pushed her down into the bushes. Geng Miaowan glanced at him, and he said to her, "There's a good show coming." The two of them then lowered themselves in unison, completely concealing themselves in the bushes. Fortunately, the bushes were tall and plentiful enough that they were not easily spotted.

Neither of them noticed that Xiaobai had disappeared sometime earlier.

"What are they doing?" Geng Miaowan asked Xu Ruwen in a low voice.

"You'll see when you see it," he replied without turning his head, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. Geng Miaowan instinctively felt that he must have noticed something, but since he wouldn't tell her, she had no choice but to strain to see the unclear scene in the distance.

The two people standing in the middle of the mountain path were both wearing white jackets. One of them had his back to them, standing there with his body slightly bent, as if he was bending over to look at the person opposite him. The other person was not clearly seen because he was blocked by the standing person, but judging from the position of his feet, he was probably sitting on the ground.

On the ground next to them lay something that was still swaying from side to side... a flashlight? Her attention was instantly drawn to the little thing.

"A...flashlight?" Geng Miaowan was stunned by what she saw. She glanced at Xu Ruwen, "You guys had flashlights back then?"

Xu Ruwen retorted, "You've been there too, why are you asking me?"

“You’ve lived there longer, so I’m afraid the places I’ve been to haven’t been widely covered.” Geng Miaowan, who had clearly noticed something was amiss, was surprisingly in the mood to joke.

“Then I can tell you with absolute certainty,” he shook his head and pursed his lips, “no.”

"Could I have seen wrong?" she muttered to herself, wanting to go up and take a closer look, but she didn't know what the two were up to or what they wanted to do, and she was afraid that going up rashly would disturb them.

Xu Ruwen chuckled. Even at this point, she was still only paying attention to the flashlight. He couldn't help but look forward to her expression when she realized something was wrong.

Time ticked by, and Geng Miaowan couldn't help but ask again, "What are they doing?" (To be continued.)
