Chapter 310: Maze Key

Chapter 310: Maze Key

The Flame Lord’s Extraordinary Trait granted Li Wei a powerful casting ability.

His spells were no longer limited by their Spell Level.

The power of his spells was tied only to his own level.

In his hands, even the weakest Tier Zero spell could unleash the power of a Tier Three spell.

This was because Li Wei himself was a Tier Three Mage.

And Tier Three spells, in turn, could unleash even greater power.

After the Lizardman Warrior died, Li Wei gained five Points.

The four surrounding doors opened, and he chose one at random to walk through.

As he continuously solved problems and defeated enemies, Li Wei’s point total grew rapidly.

However, compared to the senior students who were already familiar with the Endless Maze, Li Wei’s pace, while fast, still couldn’t match the rate at which they acquired Points.

The senior students had unique techniques for acquiring Points quickly.

After solving the problem in the third Maze, Li Wei took out his Magic Badge and glanced at the rankings.

Overall Ranking: Outside the top 100.

Third-Year Ranking: 69th.

He currently had eight Points.

Everyone in the top fifty had double-digit Points.

The top ten had already surpassed twenty Points.

Li Wei was a little surprised. ’How on earth did they manage that?’

He considered his own pace through the Maze to be quite fast.

In less than ten minutes, he had already cleared three Mazes.

And he’d only earned eight Points.

’How did these people get over twenty Points in just ten minutes?’

Suddenly, the first-place score jumped by over a dozen Points, surpassing forty in total.

Li Wei couldn’t help but feel a sense of urgency.

’At this rate, taking first place among the third-years is going to be extremely difficult.’

’Getting over ten points in one go... they probably defeated a Tier Three High Level monster or solved a highly difficult puzzle.’

Li Wei put away his Magic Badge and quickened his pace.

「Half a day later」

Li Wei stopped in a Maze chamber to rest, taking the opportunity to eat and drink some water.

He glanced at the rankings.

The first-place score was already over six hundred Points.

His own score was only two hundred thirty-four Points.

This placed him at 49th among the third-years.

However, the Mages ahead of him had also started to slow their rate of scoring Points.

Li Wei had to wait a long time before he saw anyone’s score change.

’At this rate, I’ll need at least three thousand Points within three days to have a shot at first place in my year.’

Putting away the Magic Badge, Li Wei looked at the puzzle before him as he ate his rations.

In front of him were three Magic Crystal Balls.

One blue, one red, and one yellow.

To clear the room and unlock the next stage, he had to make all three Magic Crystal Balls the same color.

The way to change their colors was by utilizing the interactions between Elements.

It sounded simple, but it was far from it.

The three Magic Crystal Balls were linked; changing the color of any one of them would cause the other two to change in response.

So far, Li Wei hadn’t figured out the solution.

It involved a deeper level of Magic Theory.

The conversion and counters between the Elements.

Li Wei kept experimenting, eventually stumbling upon the solution through trial and error.

He applied the Ice Element. The blue Magic Water Ball became ice, the red Magic Ball became gas, and the yellow ball became crystal.

Next, he applied the Water Element: the ice melted into water, the gas condensed into mist, and the crystal dissolved into mud.

Finally, he applied the Earth Element: the water turned to mud, the mist settled into dust, and the mud hardened into rock.

All three Crystal Balls turned an earthy yellow color.

The room was cleared, and the entrance to the next Maze opened.

Li Wei earned another eight Points.

He shook his head, wishing he would encounter a combat-type Maze.

Those were much faster for him.

Over the last half-day, it was mainly the puzzle rooms and Mazes testing Magic Knowledge that had slowed him down.

Passing through a door, Li Wei emerged into a vast, palatial chamber within the Maze.

Seeing this, a look of excitement crossed his face.

In his experience, combat-type Mazes generally took place in larger arenas.

The puzzle-type arenas, on the other hand, were usually smaller.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

A ring of fire lit up the surroundings.

A hulking figure appeared before Li Wei.

A Flaming Minotaur.

Its hooves burned with fire, leaving a trail of flaming footprints in its wake.

It carried a massive Wolf Fang Club, which was caked with blackened blood.

There was no telling how many creatures had died at the end of that club.

Li Wei sensed something was off.

’Isn’t this Flaming Minotaur’s power level a bit over the top?’

Li Wei estimated its power had likely reached Tier Four Peak.

For him, this wasn’t a big deal.

But if any other Tier Three Mage were to encounter this Flaming Minotaur, they wouldn’t stand a shred of a chance and would face the miserable fate of elimination.

Suddenly, a few lines of Magic Texts appeared in mid-air.

"Survival Challenge."

"Survive the Flaming Minotaur’s pursuit for three minutes. After three minutes, the Teleportation Gate to the next stage will open."

Li Wei understood. ’So, I don’t have to kill the Flaming Minotaur.’

’Just survive for three minutes.’

That was actually much easier for a Tier Three Mage.

A Tier Three Mage could use various methods to delay the Flaming Minotaur, buying themselves enough time to survive.

Lasting three minutes counted as a victory.

The Magic Texts vanished, and the Flaming Minotaur strode toward Li Wei, brandishing its massive club.

Li Wei looked up, his eyes meeting the Minotaur’s bronze, bell-like gaze.

"Fire Dragon Skill!"

BOOM!

A Fire Dragon Head swallowed the Flaming Minotaur in one gulp.

A moment later, it slowly dissipated within the Maze.

The Flaming Minotaur vanished along with the Fire Dragon Head.

A one-hit kill.

The Flaming Minotaur’s strength at Tier Four Peak was certainly formidable.

But before Li Wei, it was nothing.

The Fire Dragon Skill was a Tier Four Spell to begin with, but after being amplified by his Flame Domain, its power surpassed even that of a Tier Five spell.

Instantly killing a mere Tier Four Peak Flaming Minotaur was a simple matter.

The Flaming Minotaur had vanished, but its weapon fell to the ground.

THUD!

The heavy sound reached Li Wei’s ears.

He instinctively turned to look.

This was the first piece of loot he had seen inside the Maze.

A Mage’s Hand lifted the massive Wolf Fang Club.

Only then did Li Wei discover that the Wolf Fang Club was hollow.

He shattered the Wolf Fang Club, revealing a Golden Key as thick as his arm.

’What is this?’

Li Wei was surprised.

As he gripped the Golden Key, information flooded his mind.

"Endless Maze Key. Can open a Teleportation Gate to the deepest part of the Endless Maze."

Li Wei had already learned about the Endless Maze.

He knew it was divided into four sections: the Outer Ring, the Inner Ring, the Core, and the Deepest Part.

He was currently in the Outer Ring.

The Elemental Tower had only explored up to the very edge of the Endless Maze’s Deepest Part.

’Killing a single Flaming Minotaur got me a key to a Teleportation Gate that leads directly to the Deepest Part?’

Even Li Wei was stunned.

After a moment’s hesitation, Li Wei stored the Maze Key in his Spatial Ring.

’Better not use this thing recklessly.’

’Who knows what dangers lie in the deepest part of the Endless Maze?’

’I should just stick to the plan and focus on the final exam for now.’
