Chapter 157 Encounter
Chapter 157 Encounter
Qin Su raised his hand and gestured for someone to come forward. "Send two people to check on the situation in the village."
Meng Fuqing was not surprised by this; the person in front of him was not someone who could be easily fooled.
She thoughtfully offered a reminder, "Young Master Qin, last night I heard those people say that some of them inside have internal strength, which sounds very powerful. In case they wake up too quickly, let's send more people to tie them up."
“Miss Chi has thought things through very well; this is exactly what I was planning to do.” Qin Su smiled, his eyes narrowing.
Meng Fuqing felt that this person was pretending to be a ghost. From his words and actions, she could not tell whether he was deeply suspicious or had discovered her identity from Granny Su.
Ten men clad in armor and wielding large swords walked one after another to the village entrance.
As they passed by the well, an unexpected event occurred: an arrow shot straight toward Meng Fuqing.
Meng Fuqing simply looked without dodging.
Qin Su could save the person with just a simple reach, but he hesitated, seemingly unsure whether he should.
Just as the arrow was about to pierce the forehead of the person next to him, he finally intervened, whipping out his whip to stop the arrow.
Seeing this, Meng Fuqing felt relieved and, as if just realizing what had happened, exclaimed softly and took a few steps back to hide behind Qin Su.
She looked visibly shaken. "How could anyone still be awake?"
This was her way of confirming whether Granny Su had revealed her true identity. If Qin made a move, it meant that she had not been exposed. Conversely, if the other party did not make a move, she would not need to continue pretending.
One sentence cut off Qin Su's question, which was about to be uttered. He turned his head and glanced at the person hiding behind him, "It is truly remarkable that Miss Chi was able to come out alive."
"It's good that Young Master Qin knows." Meng Fuqing seized the opportunity. "I still have my grandmother and younger siblings to take care of. I can't die here. I would be grateful if Young Master Qin could spare a few men to protect me here."
Qin Su was keeping an eye on whether his men had caught the one who shot the arrow from behind when he heard someone muttering incessantly in his ear. Annoyed, he turned around and used the handle of his whip to lift the chin of the person behind him.
He said coldly, "Shut up and come inside with me."
After saying that, he strode toward the dilapidated village. As he moved, the armored soldiers behind him moved with him.
The moment he lowered his eyes, a smile flashed across Meng Fuqing's eyes, and he quickly followed after her.
The moment Qin Su stepped into the village, he keenly sensed something was wrong, because he discovered that the ten men he had initially sent out had suddenly gone silent while they were busy capturing people and checking the situation of each household.
He turned around quickly, lashing out with his whip at Meng Fuqing behind him, while shouting, "Capture him!"
Unexpectedly, as if she had been prepared, Meng Fuqing turned to dodge the whip, and in doing so, she scattered white powder all over her hands.
Some people without internal strength became weak in their limbs and fainted immediately after inhaling the powder.
When Qin Su realized that he had personally delivered the white powder to the other party, his eyes were filled with boundless rage.
His anger, however, kept him alert, and he locked onto Meng Fuqing's figure, lashing out with his whip again.
Suddenly, two figures flew over. Yan He, who had taken the antidote and was still wearing a mask, stepped on the heads of some people and sprinkled the sleeping pills in his hand into the crowd.
She laughed heartily: "Hahaha, how does the drug taste?"
As she spoke, she grabbed Meng Fuqing and flew away. No sooner had the two left than a group of men on horseback, armed with fine weapons, surged out of the village and charged in, led by Mu Feng and the others.
At the village entrance, a row of people stood in front of them holding broken wooden planks for defense, while behind them, another row held bows and arrows, ready to fire.
Xie Jin, who had entered the battle alongside Yan He, was already fighting Qin Su. Compared to the more agile whip, Xie Jin's sword was slightly inferior.
But his movements were extremely fast, and the sword in his hand was swung around in a series of afterimages. Just as Qin Su showed signs of weakness, his sword was placed against Qin Su's neck.
Qin Su looked surprised and uncertain. He had only seen this sword technique used by one other person before.
After looking Xie Jin up and down for a moment, he asked, "May I ask your honorable name?"
Xie Jin tightened his grip and said coldly, "Tell your men to stop."
Even though he managed to expel most of the sleeping pills he had accidentally inhaled through his internal energy, they still affected his body. For example, Qin Su was already somewhat drowsy at this moment. He slowly raised his hand and clapped his hands twice, and the fighting between the two sides gradually stopped.
Even though Qi Liang, Niu Er, and the others were still not satisfied, they had no choice but to put away their broadswords.
Niu Er and Qi Liang muttered to themselves, "They thought these people were so great, but they're just a bunch of show-offs. They were completely fooled by our boss!"
Qi Liang glanced at the casualties on both sides. Because the battle ended so suddenly, not many people died, but their side suffered more or less injuries.
This was after many of the other side had been drugged.
"With a lackey like you by Meng Fuqing's side, he must be laughing in his sleep."
Niu Er was not ashamed of being a lackey; on the contrary, he was proud of it.
"Du Rufeng, you're just envious. With your tongue-tied manner, you're always finding fault with this and that. Your father must be crying in his sleep!"
"You!" Qi Liang glared angrily, but Niu Er had already slipped away.
On the other side, Qin Su had suppressed his anger and put on a nonchalant smile again.
"What a fine teamwork! I, Qin, am completely outmatched." He raised his hand to try and move the blade aside, but the tip didn't budge. Instead, it pierced even deeper, so he had to give up.
"Since you've come to us, why don't you stay for a cup of tea?" Xie Jin said. "Before that, have your men retreat three miles away."
"Master, you mustn't!" One of Qin Su's subordinates stepped forward to stop him.
Qin Su waved his hand dismissively, "As this young master said, retreat three miles."
The subordinate looked unwilling but dared not disobey Qin Su's orders, only whispering a reminder, "Master, please be careful in everything you do. If anything happens to you..."
He didn't finish his sentence, but the threat in his tone was very strong.
Xie Jin never gave him a single glance from beginning to end.
Soon, Qin Su's men left, and Xie Jin had Mu Sheng tie them up and take them back to the village.
Meng Fuqing sat opposite Mu Sheng and pushed a cup of tea in front of Qin Su.
Qin Su glanced at the tea in front of him, then at Meng Fuqing, and for the first time realized that his face seemed to have no effect on the young lady.
A smile bloomed on his face. "Are you trying to humiliate me, young lady?"
"Brother Niu Er, untie Young Master Qin."
Niu Er reluctantly stepped forward to untie Qin Su's knot. When he saw the jade pendant at his waist, the thumb ring on his hand, and the beaded bracelet on his wrist, his hatred for Qin Su was aroused. He wished he could take them all to treat his wounded brothers.
"Boss, don't worry, if he dares to try anything funny, I, Niu Er, will chop him down!"
Seeing Qin Su rub his wrist and then casually pick up his teacup as if he were at home, Meng Fuqing couldn't help but smile.
"Young Master Qin has great courage," she said. "The reason I invited Young Master Qin to stay as a guest is to discuss the peace talks."
