Chapter 352: Vladimir’s Unexpected Decision
Chapter 352: Vladimir’s Unexpected Decision
Sabrina was getting ready to go to the Civil Courthouse to submit her divorce agreement with Dominique and register her marriage with Vladimir.
However, before she could leave her house, unexpected visitors showed up.
"What are you two doing here?" Sabrina narrowed her eyes as she looked at Ashton and Sasha.
She wondered if Sasha was there to create more trouble for her. After all, Sasha was the one who deliberately revealed Dominique’s past, accusing her father of being the murderer. In the end, her father’s innocence was proven.
"If you are here to stir another conflict, you’d better leave now. I will no longer listen to your lies," she added, sending them away.
"Sabrina, wait! Please don’t get mad. I’m not here to pick another fight with you nor argue. I just want to talk to you for one last time. Can you hear me out? Please..." Sasha stepped forward, begging her.
"Give her a chance, Sab." Ashton also spoke up with his pleading eyes.
Sabrina tightened her lips, contemplating.
"I swear... After this, you won’t see me again," Sasha added to convince her.
Even though she was reluctant at first, Sabrina eventually agreed to listen to Sasha.
"You only have ten minutes. I have to go somewhere after this. I’m in a hurry."
Sasha and Ashton exchanged glances with one another.
"I’ll wait for you in the car," Ashton said, giving the two women some privacy.
Sabrina guided Sasha to the garden area.
"Speak now," she sternly said.
Sasha smiled faintly. "Thanks, Sab, for giving me this chance."
"Honestly, I am here to apologize to you. Please forgive me for all the pain I have caused you in the past."
Sabrina was taken aback for a moment. She gazed at Sasha intently.
’What is her deal right now? Is she trying to plot another scheme, pretending to be sorry?’ She didn’t believe her, doubting Sasha’s intention.
"I have to admit that I was so jealous of you. I always loved Dom, but he only set his eyes on you. I thought I could make him fall in love with me. I had this wishful thinking that he could be mine, since I thought he only approached you for revenge. But I was wrong. I didn’t expect he had fallen for you so deeply." Sasha’s lips curled up into a bitter smile.
Sabrina remained silent, complicated emotions flashing through her eyes at the mention of Dominique’s name.
"Sabrina, I helped him with his revenge, so in exchange, I asked him to marry me after divorcing you. But my marriage to him is only for show. We looked like a loving and married couple in front of others, but inside our house, I always felt lonely and empty. He never slept with me even once."
"Dominique is truly a jerk for deceiving me all these years. He made me believe that I’ve become his wife... but the truth is... he never submitted your divorce agreement to the Civil Courthouse. And we thought you were dead... But you returned here with a new face and a new identity."
"Maybe... this is my bad karma... my own punishment for trying to steal someone who doesn’t belong to me. His heart always belongs to you–"
This time, Sabrina could no longer stay silent, so she interrupted her.
"Why are you telling me this now? What’s your purpose? You’ve always wanted to separate us. Now, you won. I am going to submit our divorce papers to annul our marriage. And I’m marrying someone else."
Sabrina burst out. Deep inside, she felt annoyed since Sasha’s words were making her waver. She kept reminding her how much Dominique loved her.
Sasha lowered her head and apologized again. "I’m sorry, Sabrina. I didn’t mean anything. I just want to express my thoughts with you. I couldn’t help but reminisce about the past."
"The truth is... I’ve already given up on Dom. I realized that I hurt him because of my selfishness. Now, all I can do is leave the past behind and start anew. I’m going to leave York City. So, before I leave, I want to apologize to you. Believe it or not, Sab, I’m being sincere."
Sabrine clenched her fists while her heart constricted inside her chest.
"I can’t easily forgive you..." she uttered.
Sasha nodded with a smile. "I know. I don’t expect you to forgive me now. It’s just that I feel the need to apologize to you... This is my first step to have a fresh start. My way of making amends..."
"You can slap me, punch me, if this will make you feel better. I won’t fight back, I promise." Sasha boldly offered her face to Sabrina. She even shut her eyes, bracing herself to receive a hard slap from her.
But Sabrina didn’t make a move.
"Forget it. I’m not going to slap you."
Sasha opened her eyes, feeling conflicted.
"I am grateful, Sabrina, for listening to me. This means a lot to me. I hope someday... once we see each other again... all the hatred and bitterness in your heart are gone. This time... I truly wish for you to be happy..."
Sabrina didn’t know what to say after hearing that.
’Sasha has finally apologized to me sincerely. And Dominique had already given me my freedom. Do I really feel right now?’
Her heart tightened at that thought. Instead of feeling happy, she somehow felt that something was missing. Her heart felt empty.
Sasha had already said goodbye to her, but she still remained standing in her spot, trying to figure out her feelings.
’Why do I feel this way? There is a void in my heart... nothing can fill in.’
Suddenly, Dominique’s charming face popped into her mind, a trace of longing flashing through her eyes.
Ring! Ring!
Sabrina snapped back to the present the moment she heard her ringtone. Lanny was calling her.
"Hey, Sab, where are you? I’m already here in the Civil Courthouse. What time are you arriving?"
Lanny was there to serve as a witness for their marriage registration.
Sabrina immediately pushed the unwanted thoughts to the back of her mind. She took a deep breath before answering Lanny.
"I’m on my way. Is Vladimir with you?"
"No! My brother is also late. I thought he came to fetch you."
Sabrina was momentarily stunned. Vladimir had never contacted her this morning. He had been silent. There was no way he had forgotten about today.
"He hasn’t contacted me yet. But I messaged him that I’ll go to the Civil Courthouse myself. Maybe, he decided to meet me there."

After a while, Sabrina finally arrived at the Civil Courthouse. Lanny approached her immediately upon seeing her.
"Sab, my brother is not yet here. This is so unusual. He is the one who is dying to marry you. But how come he is late?" Lanny lamented.
Sabrina was also surprised to hear that. Lanny was right. Vladimir was always the one who was so eager to register their marriage even before holding the wedding ceremony.
"Maybe he is not feeling well. Let me call him again," Sabrina said, feeling worried about Vladimir. Did something bad happen to him?
Sabrina immediately dialed Vladimir’s number. After a few rings, the call got connected.
"Hello, V? Lanny and I are already here in the Civil Courthouse. Where are you? Are you okay?"
"Sabrina..." Vladimir quietly called out her name. Then he paused as though he was hesitating to say his next words.
"Let’s postpone our marriage registration today. I think it’s better to do that after our wedding ceremony."
