Chapter 116 Emotional loss of control
Chapter 116 Emotional loss of control
The darkest thoughts in his heart were spoken out, and Pettigrew was angry and painful.
"I don't want to..." He grabbed his already sparse hair, "You don't know how terrible his Cruciatus Curse is. It's worse than death..."
"Then go die!" Sirius roared, "I would rather die than betray my friends. We could have done the same for you back then!"
Draco hugged Gloria and walked back. The truth was out, and they could just leave the rest to them.
Dumbledore had already written a letter at the desk. Fawkes, the Phoenix, held the envelope in his mouth, emitting light all over his body, and quickly disappeared into the office.
"I have written to the Ministry of Magic, and they will be bringing someone here soon."
"No..." Pettigrew begged on his knees, "Don't send me to Azkaban."
Gloria's eyes were particularly cold. After the Ministry of Magic's trial and acquitted Sirius, Pettigrew's only fate would be death.
"I can't believe you actually caught him." A cold and sarcastic tone came. Snape entered the office without knowing when, pointed his wand at Sirius, and his eyes fell on Gloria and Draco. "I was going to look for the two students who didn't return to the dormitory, but I saw that Mr. Filch was under a Confusion Spell. Through his memory, I saw that you left the castle-"
He looked around and didn't notice Pettigrew kneeling on the ground, blocked by the figures of several people. "I saw you and Hagrid said you were coming to the principal's office, so I came in to take a look. What an unexpected gain."
There was a fanatical light in Professor Snape's eyes, just like when Sirius saw Pettigrew.
"Severus, it's all over, Sirius is innocent..." Lupin stepped forward and tried to explain the situation.
"Lie!" Snape gritted his teeth, his wand almost poking his face, "You have been covering for him. He broke into the school twice because of you helping him."
"Severus." Dumbledore left the table. "It was not Sirius who betrayed the Potters, but Peter Pettigrew who faked his death. He was an illegal Animagus who hid in the Weasley household as a rat and became Ron's pet."
Hearing the headmaster reiterate this point, Ron felt like something disgusting was stuck in his throat and he was about to vomit it out.
"Put away your wands. People from the Ministry of Magic will be here soon." Dumbledore's tone left no room for doubt.
A few people made way, and Snape saw the frightened Pettigrew, his expression twisted for a moment.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you, Snape." Sirius sneered, "More than ten years have passed, and you are still trying to find something on us just like before."
Professor Snape's face twitched. "It seems that I don't need to bother to find evidence against you at the moment. Your close friend who is like a brother has betrayed you on his own accord."
Sirius stopped sneering, his face froze and his eyes looked sinister.
Lupin turned his face away, feeling helpless about their argument.
"Even if he is not a traitor, he escaped from Azkaban secretly, broke into Hogwarts and attacked the Fat Lady, and entered the Gryffindor dormitory with a knife. These actions should be punished." Snape did not intend to let this enemy go.
"That's enough of you, Snotlout—" Sirius' eyes became increasingly irritable.
Lupin reached out to stop him but it was too late. Harry and the others were already stunned that Sirius actually called Professor Snape like that.
Snape was angered by this name and drew his wand again, "You..."
"Enough!" Gloria suddenly shouted.
Dumbledore said: "You should stop this farce and let the Ministry of Magic conduct the trial."
Lupin pushed Sirius aside, and Professor Snape put away his wand indignantly.
With a spell cast by Headmaster Dumbledore, Pettigrew was tied up tightly and sent to a closed room where no sound could be heard. Gloria followed him and asked Golinia to change some of his memories.
The long confrontation ended, and everyone's hearts, which had been constantly fluctuating, gradually calmed down, and Dumbledore and Gloria came out.
Sirius looked up and saw Gloria staring at him. He was at a loss as to what to do. "Gloria..."
"Why don't you tell the truth?" Gloria couldn't suppress her anger and stepped closer. "I asked you in Azkaban whether you really betrayed me or were wrongly accused. You didn't make excuses and just said it was all your fault!"
Faced with her anger, Sirius didn't know where to put his hands, "Indeed...if it wasn't my suggestion..."
He felt very guilty towards his niece, as well as towards his younger brother.
"You should be thankful!"
Gloria punched him in the ribs, and Draco behind him unconsciously touched his upper right abdomen, which was exactly where Sirius was hit.
"If it weren't for your father's portrait insisting on your innocence, I believe you would not have betrayed the Potters. I would have tried to catch you as soon as you approached Hogwarts." Looking at the face that was similar to Regulus, Gloria felt a sense of grievance for her father. "He said you were the second son of the Potter family, and you were even willing to die for your friends. Father said he didn't have a good relationship with you, but he knew you."
Sirius covered the part where he was hit. It didn't hurt at all, but hearing these words made his heart ache. "I..."
"You've more than misjudged a so-called good friend." Gloria said word by word, "You don't even understand your own brother!"
She turned around angrily, grabbed Draco's wrist and left the office.

In the quiet office, Sirius seemed to have lost all his energy, his shoulders drooped and his arms hung limply.
Dumbledore said softly, "It's late, Remus. You take Harry and the others back." He looked at Harry and the others, his voice was low but very clear, "Don't tell anyone about what happened tonight for now."
After saying that, he looked at Snape and said, "Sev, I will just contact the Ministry of Magic next. Let's go back."
Walking out of the office, Ron stroked his chest, "Tonight was so chaotic. Gloria actually beat people up!"
Last year when he was angry he just spoke in a serious tone, but tonight he seemed to be clearly out of control.
Harry's mind was in a mess. Sirius, who was going to kill him, had actually been wronged all along. The real murderer who killed his parents had been hiding quietly by his side for three years.
"Professor Lupin." Harry hesitated. "You are also good friends with my parents?"
Lupin nodded, "Well, Sirius, James, Peter and I have been best friends since first grade..." He said this with a melancholy tone, "More than ten years have passed, and everything has changed."
Harry was silent for a while, then asked, "Professor Lupin, you took the Marauder's Map, but didn't you see Pettigrew on it? Gloria and I found him right away today."
"It's luck." Lupin said, "The Marauder's Map was drawn by the four of us together. Moony Face refers to me, Padfoot is Sirius, Prongs is your father, and Wormtail is Pettigrew."
Talking about his school days, Lupin smiled a little. "But the map was taken away by Filch before graduation. Pettigrew knew the range of the map very well. I guess he was hiding in the Forbidden Forest before. He was too hungry to return to the castle, so he went to Hagrid's room to steal some food. In the Forbidden Forest, he was just a mouse. He didn't have a wand to restore his human form, so it was difficult for him to get food and clean water. If he was seen by the people in the Forbidden Forest, they might inform Headmaster Dumbledore."
"So my cat is doing good things." Hermione patted Crookshanks' head with relief. "Harry, maybe the looking glass Ron gave you is not broken. It keeps barking because Pettigrew is right next to it."
