Chapter 399 Another Kind of Life (1)
Yvette paid ten Galleons and bought back the Slytherin locket.
Trembling under the cabinet in Mr. Burke's shop, Slytherin blood!
Tom hadn't seen Yvette for several days, and his face became increasingly gloomy.
She told him so much, but she disappeared the next day. How was he going to find her?
The children in the orphanage were determined to cause trouble for him, and Tom's face became even colder.
In the morning, those nasty kids showed off the toys they had picked up and repaired. Now the toys were placed on the table in the room opposite him.
The tattered toy flew up out of nowhere and headed towards Tom's room.
Just as he reached the corridor, he fell into a white hand.
"It's you!" Tom, who was always calm, couldn't sit still anymore.
Yvette looked at the toy and said, "You are the blood of the Gaunt family, the descendant of Slytherin and Peverell. Don't do such a low thing. You can teach them a lesson with magic, but you can't steal."
Tom, who had been emotionally indifferent since birth, felt his face getting hot when he heard this.
"I see."
Yvette casually tossed the toy back onto the cot in the opposite room and handed him the Resurrection Stone Ring, "This is the ring passed down from Cadmus Peverell. You still have relatives alive, but they all bring shame to the family, so I might as well give it to you."
There is a black stone in the ring, which does not look like a gemstone.
Tom asked, "What is this?"
"The Resurrection Stone cannot revive a person, but it can summon ghosts from the world of the dead." Yvette said, "Maybe one day you can use this stone to see your mother."
Tom stroked the stone on his ring. He would not summon the fragile woman.
Knowing that he was of Gaunt blood but did not inherit the surname, he guessed that his mother was a Gaunt.
"What about my father? He's a wizard too?"
"No." Yvette stared at him with her blue eyes, "Your father is a Muggle, like most people here, they can't perform magic."
Tom lowered his head, his black pupils flashing with ferocity.
·
Yvette told Tom that a magic school would accept him when he was eleven years old, and then left. Before leaving, she specifically told him not to steal again.
Because of their similar blood, Evie deliberately left some Muggle money and a cloth bag of gold Galleons.
It wasn't until the summer of 1938 that Dumbledore, the Hogwarts Transfiguration professor, came to the Wood Orphanage.
"Tom, this gentleman wants to see you," said Mrs. Cole, standing at the door.
Tom, who was sitting at the table, turned his head. At the age of eleven, he was the tallest among his peers, with black hair and black eyes, and a pale but handsome face.
Dumbledore walked in, and Mrs. Cole did not continue to stand at the door.
"Hello, Tom."
Tom looked at the auburn-haired man and remembered Yvette's words, "Are you a teacher at Hogwarts?"
Dumbledore was slightly surprised. As far as he knew, Tom Riddle was born in a Muggle orphanage and had a strange personality. No child dared to mess with him when he was six years old.
"Yes, I am the professor of Transfiguration at Hogwarts. You are now of the right age to come to school and take classes to learn how to use magic and learn about the wizarding world."
"Then when can I go to school?" He usually has no restrictions on his movements, but eventually he has to return to the orphanage to have a place to sleep.
Tom wants to find Yvette.
"I will take you and another freshman to Diagon Alley later to buy books and uniforms for school." Dumbledore said, "Hogwarts will provide a certain amount of funds for students with financial difficulties..."
"I don't need it!" Tom felt that he was of noble status and the word financial difficulties had nothing to do with him. "I have money."
Then he asked, “Who is the other person?”
Dumbledore stood up and said, "You'll know when you get to the door."
Tom didn't expect that the other new student was Yvette. When Dumbledore introduced them to each other, he said she was Yvette Keno.
Both of them are young wizards stranded in the Muggle world, and Dumbledore plans to take them to Diagon Alley.
Yvette and Tom both said that they could buy it themselves and they knew the location of the station.
Dumbledore was intrigued by them, but there would be more time for that later.
"Kino? That's your last name." It was the first time Tom heard her full name.
Yvette's eyes fell on the bookshelf of Flourish and Blotts. "That's my father's last name. He's a wizard from an Italian pure-blood family. But I inherited my mother's last name. I just can't say it out for now."
Influenced by the secular world, Tom believes that children inherit their father's surname.
If he had inherited his mother's last name, everyone at school would surely know his identity.
·
Yvette was quite curious about Hogwarts. Salazar and his three companions founded the school, but unfortunately after he left the school, no one from the Slytherin family came to the school. She was the first one.
Tom Riddle's ordinary and Muggle name did not attract anyone's attention, but he was sorted into Slytherin House.
For a moment, all the students at the Slytherin table looked at him with scrutinizing eyes.
Yvette put on the Sorting Hat, and they chatted for a while, and she was also sorted into Slytherin.
Principal Armando Dippet gave a speech, welcoming the new students and sharing some rules that cannot be violated.
Back in the common room, the other freshmen distanced themselves from people with unfamiliar last names, such as Yvette and Tom.
"They are rejecting us." Tom was perceptive enough to sense this.
"To be precise, I'm most disgusted with you. I'm fine." Yvette knew that any pure-blood family with some knowledge must have heard of the surname Keno from the wizarding family, even if they were not in the UK.
Tom, who was stabbed in the heart, showed no expression. Instead, he changed his indifference in the orphanage and said, "I will fit in here. One day, they will all crawl at my feet."
Yvette frowned, took out a book from her bag, and tapped it on his head, "You don't have that chance while I'm here."
Tom stared at her with dark pupils, "Why?"
"Because my family wants to accumulate a good reputation. There have been too many dark wizards in the past. But when my granddaughter's generation comes, we have to do something big that will be remembered forever by the wizarding world. I don't want to deal with you personally in the future."
Yvette can leave the manor but cannot reveal her real last name. However, she can now build a force and influence the situation in the future.
She saw that Tom was highly talented but had a cold, even cruel temperament, and it would be troublesome for such a person to become a dark wizard.
Just as the two were about to part, several people stood up.
"Riddle, there is no wizard family with this surname in Britain or other European countries." A boy with blond hair stood in front of Yvette and Tom.
"Nott, you don't know?"
"It's definitely not one of the Holy Family." The boy called Nott laughed, "Avery, maybe we're going to have some fun."
"The surname Kino seems to be a pure-blood family in Italy." The brown-haired boy said beside him.
"Are you sure?" Nott asked him.
Avery said with a fierce look in his eyes: "The Rozier family is combined with many pure-blood families in Europe, so he shouldn't be wrong."
Yvette looked at Tom, "One of the tenets of Slytherin is that power and strength are truth."
A lot of people gathered in the lounge, ready to watch their fun.
"Lucy, come here!" the gorgeous black-haired woman said with a smile.
Lucretia heard Walburga calling her and pushed aside the people who were blocking her way and went over.
Yvette smiled at Tom, then the little snake with black scales and red eyes came out of her pocket. The moment it landed on the ground, it grew larger, and before anyone could see clearly, it suddenly jumped onto Nott.
The ten-inch thick black snake tightly strangled Nott, causing his face to turn red and he could not make any sound.
The students around were stunned by this scene and hurriedly stepped back to avoid it.
Yvette said to Tom in snake language: "We have the blood of the most noble family in the wizarding community flowing in our bodies. No one can offend us at any time. Even if you are a half-blood, you have Slytherin blood. This alone makes you much nobler than other wizards."
Seeing that the group of people who were looking for trouble were frightened, she continued, "Tell Apophis to release this man."
Tom's earlobes were a little red because of his emotions. He took deep note of the expressions of the students around him and hissed, "Let him get hurt, then let him go."
Apophis glanced at Yvette, and when he saw her nod slightly, he tightened his grip and then let go of Nott.
At this point, everyone in Slytherin House knew that the identities of these two people were related to the founder, Salazar Slytherin.
