"What I mean is that we don’t need to work together anymore." David Benington paused and continued, "But if you’re in trouble, I can still help you. After all, you were my ex-girlfriend, and we were together for two years. It’s not like I have no feelings for you."

"I can’t bear to see you and Mrs. Rose Lawrence end up on the streets either. You can’t make it in the entertainment industry anymore, and it’s probably hard to find a temporary job right now. If you still trust me, I can introduce you to some work. Of course, if you’re willing to go, the pay won’t be too bad."

Annie Lawrence was silent for a few seconds and asked knowingly, "What kind of job?"

David didn’t beat around the bush, "Go help me accompany a boss. Mr. Canton is generous, you won’t be at a loss."

Annie knew what David meant by accompanying someone.

He had made her do things like that before.

Annie hated David for making her do these things.

"Alright, I’ll go!" Annie couldn’t stand her current living situation. Compared to staying in this dirty, small, and smelly broken room, accompanying those old men seemed more bearable.

So, without much consideration, she agreed.

"I’ll arrange it right away. You get ready and doll yourself up now. I’ll send you the address later, and you can go straight there." David said and hung up the phone.

Annie listened to the disconnection tone on her phone and cursed through gritted teeth, "Bastard! I will make you pay for this sooner or later. Just you wait!"

After cursing, Annie turned around to look through her suitcase.

Rose Liall listened to her daughter’s phone conversation and had a rough idea of what was going on.

Instead of feeling that David was humiliating her daughter, she appeared overjoyed at the prospect of Annie making money and them being able to move out of this rundown place soon.

She walked over happily, standing beside Annie as she picked out clothes. "Annie, are you going out? I heard David on the phone just now; did he introduce you to a job?"

"Although he’s not principled and did some things to hurt you, if he can help us now and make money for you, you shouldn’t dwell on the past too much. Now, apart from him, nobody can help you."

"You go and work well, Mom will be waiting for you at home. Remember, perform well and don’t waste this opportunity."

Annie already knew that Rose was someone who prioritized benefits and that the so-called mother-daughter bond was less important to her than money. But when she saw the delighted expression on Rose’s face, Annie was still disgusted.

"Mom, do you know what kind of job David introduced to me?" Annie asked, holding back her anger.
