Chapter 217 Golden Rose Theater (Part 5)

Chapter 217 Golden Rose Theater (Part 5)

The undertaker had already arrived at the three mercenaries in the box. He took off his mask and looked at the mercenaries with extremely complicated eyes.

"Mr. Blue Thistle?"

When the mercenary heard the undertaker call him that, he almost spit out the hot cocoa he had just drunk onto Amuro Toru's face.

"Stop talking. I'm already dead." The mercenary covered his head in pain.

Amuro Toru, who was standing by, did not forget to make fun of him: "I think this nickname is very suitable for the senior."

"After all, this flower, like you, is used to using its thorns to protect others." The door to the box opened, and the explorer walked in. "Long time no see, Sabeda."

The mercenary who saw the person coming introduced the prospector to Amuro Toru: "The male lead of the Golden Rose Theater, the most talkative person in the entire theater, Ronald of Nice. Just like his name, he is not an easy person to get along with."

"You are introducing your old friend to others like this? Did I pay you too little commission?" The prospector had a playful smile on his face.

The surveyor then quickly approached the mercenary and said in a low voice, but loud enough for everyone present to hear, "Are you so short of money now that you're going to become a third-rate detective, doing jobs like finding cats and dogs and investigating extramarital affairs?"

The mercenary blushed immediately after hearing this. He pushed the explorer to the sofa on the other side and took out the handkerchief from the explorer's breast pocket.

"What a simple and elegant handkerchief. No custom patterns, no pearls or gold decorations. The stitching is intricate, but it doesn't look like it was made by a famous artist. When did you start liking something so simple?"

The prospector spread his hands and said, "This is the work of a new seamstress hired by the theater. She's a very hardworking girl, and I fully support her in her rapid growth and replacing our current stylist."

The mercenary handed the handkerchief back, watched the explorer take it and put it back in its place, and then talked about the commission.

"Didn't you ask me to investigate the matter of Mrs. Bella before?" The mercenary took out a small notebook with "The Life of Mary Clayburgh" written on it.

The explorer took it and flipped through it. "It's really detailed, but the problem is that it's too detailed."

As Amuro Toru listened to the conversation, he realized the prospector was an old friend of the mercenary, and this was likely the content of their deal. He frowned, "Wouldn't a more detailed investigation like this be better?"

"This gentleman probably doesn't understand the ways of these nobles. In order to cover up the various scandals that occurred in their upper class society, many facts have been distorted and adapted, but the contents of this note seem to be true." The explorer shook the notebook in his hand.

The mercenary quickly noticed something was wrong. "Ronald, how can you confirm that the information in this notebook is true? Even if I were to investigate, I'd inevitably find some false rumors."

The explorer put his hands on the table and looked at the mercenary and said, "Let me be frank. What is the relationship between that Madam Bella and the organization behind you?"

Toru Amuro was also surprised. He initially thought that the explorer was also a member of Oritis, but now it seems that there should be many ordinary people in this theater.

The mercenary's expression turned serious. "How did you know this...did she tell you herself?"

The explorer nodded. "'Madame Red,' 'Mary,' 'Bella.' She was troubled by who she was supposed to be. After I discovered the clues, she confessed everything to me, including that she might be the product of human experimentation."

"So you asked me to investigate this matter in order to cover up your way of knowing the truth?"

"I know very well that the troupe leader is a subordinate of the Melody family. If this matter is exposed, I will definitely not survive. I still trust your character very much. You won't tell others, right?"

The mercenary sighed helplessly. "I was wondering why you would spend several times the usual commission to commission me. Is it hush money? That's practically all your savings, right? You're really working hard to maintain your status as the leading actor."

"It took me a lot of effort to get to this position, but I did it because I could better achieve my goals from this position. Everyone here is full of lies, and there are hypocritical faces everywhere."

The prospector handed a small card to the mercenary. "Look, this is what we received this morning. Everyone in the troupe gets a share."

The back of the card features the red seal of the Muse and the front features a small poem.

"Tonight, the roses are about to bloom, for whom does the Muse shed tears? Sincerity is also a lie."

"Tonight, a broken mirror cannot be mended. Why does the white horse wail? Gorgeous clothes cannot hide hypocrisy."

"Is this the work of the Melodi family?" the undertaker asked after taking a closer look at the card.

"Oh no! I have a feeling something big is going to happen tonight." The mercenary slapped his head, looking very annoyed. "I really shouldn't have gotten involved in this mess."

After coming to his senses, Amuro Toru thought of something very important: "Wait, you just said that Madam Mary was the product of human experiments, but Mr. Frederick has always treated her as his aunt?"

Immediately, the undertaker revealed a shocking secret: "Mary Clayburgh died a long time ago. Unable to bear the rumors and gossip in Manus, she hanged herself at the racecourse. But the news was suppressed. The Clayburgh family knew nothing about it, let alone an exiled member of the family."

Toru Amuro took a deep breath. If Mr. Frederick had not been exiled, the fire in the Kreberg mansion would have killed all the existing Kreberg members. At that time, the "Mary Kreberg" created by Oritis would have become the only member of the Kreberg family and taken over everything naturally.

But if that were the case, Lady Mary would have been hostile to Mr. Frederick and would have tried every possible means to kill him. However, the two seemed to have a very good relationship, with Mr. Frederick even returning to watch his "aunt's" comeback show. This left Toru Amuro somewhat baffled.

The mercenary was asking the prospector for tonight's program: "'The Knights of Avalon' and 'The Ropes of Atropolos,' with a short acrobatic performance between the two performances."

"'The Rope of Atropolos' is the sequel to 'The Coin of Lachesis', which the troupe leader wrote three years ago. Ever since the former lead actress, Lachesis, died in an accidental fall on stage, the troupe leader has given the lead actress position to Madam Bella."

Toru Amuro noticed that the explorer deliberately paused when he said the word "accident" and his tone was particularly unfriendly.

"'Lachesis's Coin' tells the story of Lachesis, the eldest of three twin sisters. The entire family has high hopes for her, hoping that she can bring supreme glory to the family. However, under tremendous pressure, Lachesis suffers a mental breakdown and ultimately sacrifices her life for freedom."

"The sequel, 'The Rope of Atropolos,' begins with Lachesis' suicide by jumping off a cliff. It tells the story of the second sister, Atropolos, who was the first to discover the mystery and decided to take her sister's identity and live on. However, in the process, she lost herself in the two identities and could no longer distinguish between them. In the end, she followed in the footsteps of her sister Lachesis and ended her life with a rope."

Amuro Toru was stunned for a moment: "Lachesis, Atropolos and Clotho, these seem to be the names of the three goddesses of fate."

The explorer smiled and said, "Perhaps the leader will write a third series with Kroto as the protagonist in the future, or perhaps he won't have that opportunity."
