Chapter 36 Contact with the Black Organization
Chapter 36 Contact with the Black Organization
[Mercenary: That Conan guy seems to be up to something weird again.]
[Explorer: How do you say that?]
[Mercenary: Vodka just called and asked me to go to a Tokyo subway station to pick up some software.]
[Novelist: It's likely that the previous incident with Itakura Taku gave him some information about the Black Organization's dealings, and now he's using Itakura Taku's identity to try to extract information.]
[Antique Dealer: I guess only he and Professor Agasa went.]
[Composer: Apparently.]
[Fire Investigator: He's really not afraid of an accident. I happen to be in Tokyo, I'll go check it out later.]
[Magician: What are you doing in Tokyo?]
[Fire Investigator: I have a life to live too. I sell colorful popcorn at the entrance of an amusement park.]
[Adventurer: So inspiring.]
[Mercenary: Wait, I'll go try it after I'm done here.]
[Fire Investigator: ??? I'm off work, and I'm heading to the subway station right now.]
"Hey, Vodka, how long will it take?" The mercenary sat in the back seat with an impatient look on his face.
"Well, we'll be there soon. Don't be anxious, Negroni. It will be over as soon as we get the food. I found a good restaurant recently." Vodka held the steering wheel with one hand and his mobile phone with the other.
"Well, that's better, because you and I have already missed out on a serving of colorful popcorn."
"Ahahaha." Vodka suddenly felt embarrassed.
At Xianqiao Station, Conan had already arrived at the room where the lockers were located and hid there.
Vodka walked in front with a flashlight, and the mercenary walked behind with his hands in his pockets.
Entering the storage room, Vodka looked around: "Hey, Itakura, where are the people?"
Mercenary: "Don't look, there's no one here."
"Hmph, that coward didn't even dare show up in person, but where did he put the software?"
"It should be this one. There's a check stuck in the door of this cabinet."
"It seems this is it. That check is the reward we gave him."
Vodka opened the cabinet door and found the software was taped to the cabinet. Vodka took off his gloves and tried to take it.
"Hey, Vodka, wait a minute."
"What's up, Negroni."
"At this hour, no one else would be at the station, yet he deliberately used tape to cover the software?"
"Are you saying there's a trick?"
"Of course it's a trick." Gin suddenly appeared behind the two of them.
"Vodka, why did you move up the transaction time?"
"That guy seemed to have a bad heart and wasn't available at that time, so I rescheduled the transaction time."
Vodka said as he tore off the tape and showed the software to Gin.
"Oh, idiot." The mercenary snorted coldly.
"Negroni, what did you say?" Vodka angrily said to the mercenary.
"If Gin and I weren't here with you, you would have messed things up sooner or later."
"you!"
"Negroni is right," Gin sneered. "The tape and magnetic card are just to collect your fingerprints."
Then Gin opened the disk and said, "Look, that guy is trying to find our base with the transmitter."
"A cowardly but cunning fellow, isn't he?" The mercenary leaned calmly against the cabinet on the other side.
"There's still body heat on this disk. It seems the person who set this up hasn't gone far."
Conan, who was hiding nearby, suddenly became nervous. In desperation, he had to hide in the locker.
After searching the entire storage room without any results, Gin felt a little unbelievable.
"Is there no one here?" Gin frowned.
Conan, hiding behind the cabinet door, had his heart pounding, his breathing becoming heavier, cold sweat streaming down his forehead, and his pupils shrinking to the size of a needle tip.
Just when he thought Gin had found nothing and was about to leave, he never expected that Gin would actually open each cabinet door and check. This made him even more nervous, and he thought that today might be the end of him.
"Hey, Gin, a grown man can't hide in such a small compartment even if he practices shrinking skills." The mercenary knocked on the door of the cabinet where Conan was hiding, and turned his head to stop Gin's actions.
"Hmph, that's true." After saying that, Gin turned and left.
"We have to be careful recently. Someone might be targeting us."
"He's probably just a detective hired by that guy. No need to worry." The mercenary stretched his body. "I won't go back with you. That Vodka guy always likes to interrupt me."
"Be careful not to get discovered on your way back, otherwise I don't mind killing you too." Gin stared at the mercenary viciously.
"I will kill anyone who discovers me, so don't worry, Gin." The mercenary raised his eyelids.
Gin and Vodka drove off.
The mercenary walked to the cabinet door and pulled it open suddenly, and Conan was hiding inside.
It was obvious that the young detective had not yet recovered.
"Hey, little detective, you look pretty scared." The mercenary crossed his arms over his chest. "Come out."
"Huh, huh. Negroni, why are you, huh..."
"Okay, take a breath first. Don't act like you're dying. I don't know the Snow Country burial techniques."
"Where did you take Miss Mingmei?"
"Having just experienced a life-or-death crisis, the question I asked was about the life or death of others."
"You said 'life and death', Miss Mingmei is not dead?"
"It's a shame she's gone to an isolated place (the manor). Snow Country's technique is so exquisite, it's like she's still alive."
"Damn it, why do you let me go again and again?"
"Is it just to satisfy your evil taste of cat catching mouse?"
"You seem to have some misunderstandings about me. It seems like you were the one approaching me the whole time. I didn't pursue your behavior, and I didn't take any action when I discovered you. Does that mean you have bad taste?"
"Just now, Gin definitely wanted to find me and kill me. You don't seem to be...someone is coming?"
"Hey, I should call you Negroni now~" The fire investigator poked his head out from behind a row of cabinets. "Your colorful popcorn takeout~"
"Aren't you off work?"
“So you have to pay double the price~”
The mercenary silently paid the bill, then devoured a bucket of colorful popcorn.
"You're the 'fire investigator'? And the Negroni?"
"We had an employment relationship, so to speak. I used to be a mercenary." The mercenary said incoherently with popcorn in his mouth.
"A member of the Oritis once hired me to assassinate someone. I failed the mission, but the person still paid me the fee."
"Don't say that. Regarding that mission, that senior wanted you to fail. He didn't tell you at the beginning just to make it look more realistic~"
"And then my apparent mission completion rate dropped, and both the number of jobs and my hiring fees dropped significantly, forcing me to come work for this crappy organization just to make a living?"
Conan: So you're really doing this just to make a living, just like what Huiyuan said...
"Haha, little detective, the little girl is okay last time, right? She shouldn't have tried to blow herself up again." The fire investigator turned and looked at Conan.
"Ah, she's fine now. She's recovered from that self-destructive state."
"As expected of me, the greatest fire investigator, I have once again created a miracle!"
"Don't brag about your miracles here, it's too noisy." The mercenary put the empty bucket on the fire investigator's head.
"Okay, little detective, remember this. I saved you again. You'd better learn your lesson."
The mercenary turned and left the storage room.
"Well, he's a nice guy after all." The fire investigator took the bucket off his head.
Conan: "What is your relationship?"
"Like I said, we were once employed. Now, he often buys information from me. That bucket of popcorn is it."
Conan: Hiding the information in popcorn?
"Well it's time for me to go too. Bye little detective~" With that, the fire investigator ejected from the station using his airbag.
