Chapter 496 Nightmare (Part 8)
Chapter 496 Nightmare (Part 8)
"But I heard that the Black Organization has already begun researching and using weapons based on the Abyss." Akai Shuichi frowned. "Several agents, after being attacked, said those weapons were very strange. Some didn't even have time to report back."
"When our people went to check the location where the locator was last seen, they didn't even find a body. There was no blood on the ground, and no signs of dragging."
"Could it be that the Black Organization has cleared those traces?" Sera Masumi said from the side.
Akai Shuichi shook his head: "No, because the agent was very close to our location, so we rushed over immediately after receiving the news, but when we arrived at the scene a quarter of an hour later, we didn't see a single person."
"Judging from the time, even if the agent was killed the second after sending the message, how did the Black Organization manage to dispose of all traces and leave the scene in less than fifteen minutes?"
"I can only attribute this to the Abyss possessing special abilities. Perhaps it can quickly clear the scene, or perhaps it can provide teleportation capabilities to those who use it, just like the priestess did."
After finishing speaking, Shuichi Akai stared at the Incessant Vehicle and the Pilot in front of him with burning eyes, as if he wanted to know more information.
The photographer looked ahead with a mocking expression, raising his head slightly. "The Abyss does have the ability to communicate with other worlds, but it's beyond the reach of novices like the Black Organization. With their current skills, if they try to use this ability directly, they'll only be torn apart when they enter the rift between worlds."
"The most likely scenario is that they use this ability as a means of cleaning up a scene. Unleashing the creatures of the abyss in front of a corpse would devour not only the body and the blood, but even the insects and ants on the ground would be completely consumed. They're only interested in living things, so they're quite useful for destroying corpses and covering up traces of evidence."
Akai Hide nodded to indicate he understood. He would write a report and submit it to his superiors, who wanted to use the Abyss to develop new energy sources. This thing was not so easy to control. He had heard that his superiors had somehow obtained some samples of Abyss derivatives and were studying them.
He'd asked James about this, but he couldn't give a definitive answer. It was obvious that the powerful figures behind the scenes were behind it. These idiots might be thinking that analyzing the abyss would yield endless energy. Akai Shuichi could only say, "Haha," never mind whether these people could ever come up with anything.
Even if these people did develop something, the Abyss would probably have completely destroyed the lab before they could even use it, and the FBI would have had to come and clean up their mess. Thinking of this, Akai Shuichi thought he could carve a monument for those researchers in advance.
The pilot continued, "The samples the Black Organization obtained are all remnants from the third Abyssal Experiment. They are quite primitive, highly malleable, and highly dangerous. The fact that they're using them suggests they've at least deciphered the remaining research data."
"However, misusing Abyssal artifacts won't have good results, especially since the Abyss will continue to learn as it's used. Therefore, the ones we should be worried about now are probably the Black Organization. What if their Abyssal artifacts ever gain self-awareness? Their lab could be breached from the inside."
Finally, there was some good news. According to Oritis and the others, if they allowed the Black Organization to use the Abyss products now, they would be able to end the battle effortlessly.
But Sera Masumi suddenly realized something was wrong: "Wait, although leaving it alone can indeed allow the abyssal creatures to grow and kill the Black Organization's people, how are we going to solve the problem afterwards?"
Hattori Heiji also realized: "Yes, after those abyss creatures have dealt with the researchers in the laboratory, they might attack ordinary people!"
"So these people are really troublesome. They have such excellent energy storage materials, but they're still not satisfied." The photographer irritably combed his hair. "Unlike me, I would just pray to the gods in heaven for my brother to come back and share eternal youth and wealth."
Conan, Hattori Heiji, Sera Masumi, and Akai Shuichi all broke out in cold sweat on their foreheads: Judging from your wishes, you seem to be even more greedy than the people in the Black Organization.
The pilot wiped the sweat from his forehead. "So we have to eliminate the Abyss Creatures there before they cause irreversible consequences for the Black Organization."
"As for the issue of shelter, you don't have to worry too much. Mr. Karl will be responsible."
The figure of the undertaker (the playful one) emerged from the darkness. He was not wearing a mask, and his dark blue cape fluttered in the wind, giving him an imposing look. The box he was carrying kept making strange noises, and it was obvious that it was likely a creature from the abyss.
"The containment facility has been expanded," the undertaker's cold voice echoed. "We can then centrally destroy them, or we can dump them at the bottom of the Glittering Gold Grotto. The special magnetic field there will prevent these creatures from escaping."
Then, the undertaker opened his suitcase, and several black gelatinous tentacles squeezed out of it. An amorphous abyss creature then crawled out of it, like a big black slug covered with tentacles.
Conan and his friends watched as the unidentified creature fell at the undertaker's feet, circled around him in a flattering manner, and its tentacles affectionately wrapped around the undertaker's trouser legs.
The undertaker frowned slightly, and the abyss creature immediately noticed his change in mood. It obediently retracted its tentacles, climbed up the undertaker's body to his shoulders, and then flowed through the cloak like liquid, merging with it.
Now the undertaker's cloak is a cloak parasitized by abyss creatures, which can assist him in various actions.
The undertaker was a quiet man, so he asked Aviator to explain the situation. Aviator himself wasn't very articulate. He was fine with mechanical explanations, but today he'd been talking too much. Aviator felt like, after this was over, he'd stay in the studio for three to five days.
Finally, they both looked for help at the photographer who was resting against the door in the distance. The photographer had been happily taking pictures of Conan and his friends' expressions, but now he felt uncomfortable being watched like this.
Of course, he also knew the problems of the two people opposite him. One was dull and the reason he could speak so much today was because Crazy Eyes, Hermit and Mechanic encouraged him for a long time; the other one was extremely socially anxious. When there were many people around, he wanted to stuff himself into a coffin, and then rely on the postman to pass small notes into the coffin to communicate with others.
The photographer turned on the game viewing channel and looked at the Hermit Prisoner and his apprentice who were bickering in the guest room; Nightmare and Fool's Gold who were fighting fiercely in the bathroom, leaving soap bubbles all over the floor; and Crazy Eyes who opened a bottle of good wine in the studio and chatted happily with the billiard player.
Well, it seems that I am the only one who can be the tour guide now. The photographer held his forehead helplessly.
