Chapter 524 Miss Nightingale (Part 5)
Chapter 524 Miss Nightingale (Part 5)
"Vermouth, can you tell me why Oritis's people let you go?" Kudo Shinichi sat next to Hattori Heiji.
"I don't know. I thought they would ask me to pay a price, but they said I had already paid the price. I don't remember giving them anything." Vermouth herself was also puzzled about this matter.
I thought I could get something out of Vermouth, but it seems like the clues are gone again.
Thinking of this, Kudo Shinichi shifted his attention to Miyano Akemi and Curacao. After being rescued by Oletis's people, these two people lived in Oletis Manor for a period of time. He wondered if they could provide some help.
Looking at Kudo Shinichi's eyes, Curacao knew she couldn't hide anything at this point. However, she didn't know much. Usually in the manor, she was either learning specialized skills with a few survivors or staying in her room. However, she did go around the various maps when she was bored, but this didn't seem to be any important information.
Miyano Akemi sighed. "Let me explain. Actually, besides Curacao and I, there are two other people who live in the manor. They are Dr. Asanari Minoru and Ms. Shimabukuro Kimie. One of them is in charge of the survivors' treatment records, and the other does some odd jobs for the supervisor."
There's quite a bit of entertainment at Oletus Manor. Besides the usual entertainment options, some simple games have also been introduced. "Grab the Bell" and "Monopoly" are currently the most popular, with the Prospector ranking first on the Monopoly victory list. There's also the previously linked "Snake" mini-game, and the "Bomberman" mini-game from the Halloween event.
Everyone felt their nerves flare up as they listened to Miyano Akemi's description, especially Amuro Toru and Akai Shuichi. This didn't seem to be what they'd expected. While their training at the Black Organization's training base wasn't brutal, it certainly wasn't easy either. Miyano Akemi and Curacao, on the other hand, felt like they were attending an after-school program. Furthermore, the "training center" provided free food and lodging, and it didn't charge a cent. If they hadn't known about the Oritis Manor's impressive credentials, they would have thought it was some kind of charity.
Even the FBI's ace agent and the head of the Public Security Team Zero felt like they had punched cotton.
Damn Oletus Manor, what on earth are you trying to do?
"Oh, if you ask me, the easiest way is to just go to the appointment and see what's going on there, right?" Sera Masumi said, waking the dreamer up.
That makes sense.
Hattori Heiji asked at this time: "Kudo, I remember you said Xiaolan and Uncle Maori also received invitations, right?"
"Well, if we are going, it's better to keep it a secret from them." Kudo Shinichi's tone was full of concern for Xiaolan.
"Come to think of it, you probably didn't tell him the secret that you're Conan."
"Of course not, I would never say such a thing!"
"Then let's arrange a time and go to the entrance of Delos Manor to see what's going on. The invitation says we should just go there."
After agreeing on a time, everyone decided to go to Delos Manor to see what was going on. Kudo Shinichi had already taken a leave of absence. Ran looked at the empty seat and was a little stunned: "Why did Shinichi leave in such a hurry?"
She received a message from Kudo Shinichi yesterday. The message was brief, but it made her worry.
"Xiao Lan, I have to go handle a very important case. I'm sorry I can't accompany you these few days. But please believe me, this case is really important, and I have reasons to go."
Xiaolan took out the invitation from the table and asked: "Why is Shinichi so strange about this invitation? Could it be that the case he hurriedly went to handle is related to this invitation?"
Xiaolan was not completely clueless. She could see that the message sent by Kudo Shinichi this time revealed a deep worry. Kudo Shinichi had always been like this. For the sake of the case and the truth, he didn't mind any risks. However, he really didn't want Xiaolan to get involved in such dangerous things.
Xiaolan pondered and had the answer in her mind. She suddenly stood up with the invitation letter in her hand. Her action startled the teacher and classmates.
"Mr. Mori, what are you going to do?" The teacher looked at Xiaolan with a puzzled look. There were already two people in the class, Shinichi Kudo and Masumi Sera, who liked to take leave to solve cases. Xiaolan wouldn't learn bad things from them, would she?
"Teacher, I want to ask for leave!" After saying this, Xiaolan rushed out of the classroom like a gust of wind.
Halfway through the journey, tears welled up in Ran's eyes as she ran. She recalled the time she and Kudo Shinichi parted ways in Dorobiga Park: "Don't leave me. At least let me face it with you. I don't want to experience that feeling again."
By this time, everyone had arrived at the entrance of Delos Manor. Looking at the somewhat eerie environment, Kudo Shinichi scratched his head and said, "Strange! It's only been a short time, why does Delos Manor look like it's been through more than a decade of wind and frost?"
No one is taking care of Delos Manor now. The trees are twisted into ghostly shapes, the iron gate is covered with rust, dark clouds gather above the roof, and crows are circling in the sky. It looks like the set of a horror movie.
Remembering that he still had an ID card that could be used, Kudo Shinichi immediately went to the card reader next to the gate and said, "I hope this still works."
There was a beeping sound, and the access control system was still working normally. As a faint green light came on, the lock of the door clicked, and the two doors slowly opened to both sides, making a creaking sound, like an old object that had not been maintained for many years.
"Hey, this place has only been vacated for a few days, why has it become so dilapidated so quickly?" Hattori Heiji rubbed his shoulders, feeling that the breath he exhaled was about to condense into ice beads.
Anyone with a discerning eye could see that something was amiss here, but now they had no choice but to go ahead. They entered the manor and stopped in front of the manor house's gate.
"The door is not locked..." Toru Amuro had already prepared the lock-picking tools, but the moment he touched the door, he found that the door of the mansion was not locked at all, as if it was welcoming everyone.
"Let's go in and see if there's any danger. You guys wait outside for a while." Shuichi Akai signaled the FBI agents to go in and check the situation first, and let the others wait outside.
However, surprisingly, the FBI agents were unable to enter the manor at all, as if an invisible light curtain blocked their way forward. Only Shuichi Akai walked in safely.
Amuro Toru's expression darkened. "Sure enough, that invitation wasn't sent out without a purpose. Only those who receive it can enter the manor."
The next second, a blinding white light flashed by, and everyone seemed to hear the sound of glass breaking. When they opened their eyes again, they found that all those who had received the invitation were now in a reception room.
