Chapter 714 Breaking the Illusion
Chapter 714 Breaking the Illusion
Yun Yao felt the illusion before her like a dense spiderweb, entangling her layer by layer. What seemed like a beautiful scene actually concealed a deadly temptation. She was deep within the Well of Fate, surrounded by flickering cocoons of light, each carrying a possible future, whispering and beckoning.
In that most vivid illusion, she was dressed in modern white, standing gracefully beside the palace's lotus pond. A gentle breeze swayed the lotus blossoms, and the shimmering water reflected her beautiful features. Chu Mochen stood not far away, dressed in a gorgeous outfit, his eyes gentle and affectionate, as if all the world's troubles had nothing to do with them. It was a scene of ordinary yet captivating tranquility.
But Yun Yao's heart rang with alarm. She knew this was a trap set by the illusion. If she fell, she would be trapped forever, and the fate of the three thousand worlds would be doomed with it. She bit her lower lip until the smell of blood filled her mouth. The intense pain was like a sharp blade, instantly piercing the illusion. The beautiful scenery before her disappeared like foam, replaced by the cold and mysterious void of the Well of Fate. The cocoon of light still flickered, as if awaiting her decision.
Yun Yao, fighting back dizziness and exhaustion, struggled to navigate this vast sea of light cocoons. Her spiritual energy had been largely depleted by the previous battles, and every lift of her hand, every step forward, felt like a heavy burden. But within her heart, one conviction, as firm as a rock, was to find the true horoscope, the one that would lead her and Chu Mochen on the path to restoring the Heavenly Dao.
After an unknown amount of time, perhaps a moment, perhaps an eternity, she finally saw the scene that had made her heart stop at the end of the cocoon of light. Within that cocoon of light, she and Chu Mochen stood side by side, each radiating a dazzling light. Beneath their feet was an endless sea of swirling clouds, and above them was a vast, glittering galaxy. Across from them lay a chasm that stretched from heaven to earth, like a hideous scar, severing the heavens and earth. In their hands, she and Chu Mochen each held half of an ancient tome radiating with mysterious runes. The tome slowly merged, transforming into a mighty force that poured continuously into the rift, causing it to heal at a visible speed.
"This is our mission..." Yun Yao muttered to herself, tears glistening in her eyes. It was the emotion of seeing hope after enduring hardships, and a fearless declaration of war against the arduous road ahead. She reached out and slowly touched the cocoon of light. As her fingertips touched, a powerful and warm force surged through her arm and into her body, like fate's approval, or a call from heaven.
Instantly, the silver lotus seed between her brows shone brightly, like a full moon in the sky, illuminating the entire Well of Fate. The chaotic energy within the well was dispelled by the light, and a pristine, yet incomplete, ancient tome slowly emerged. Its pages rustled in the light, as if telling a story lost for millennia. Yun Yao peered closely, and the words within the tome were strikingly familiar. They were the pages of the novel she had written in the modern world! Every character, every plot point, was etched into her mind like a brand, now a guiding light for the future.
Elsewhere, Chu Mochen, within the teleportation array, was equally mired in illusion. Heartwarming scenes from the secular palace flashed before his eyes like a revolving lantern: him and Yun Yao strolling hand in hand through the garden, admiring the spring blossoms and autumn moon; him in his study, Yun Yao grinding ink beside him, their gazes softly smiling; and that night, under the moonlight, they embraced on the rooftop, making a lifelong promise... These images, like a sweet poison, eroded his resolve, making him almost oblivious to the dangers beyond.
But Chu Mochen was no ordinary man. Deep within his soul, the pride of a Divine Son and his deep affection for Yun Yao intertwined, transforming into a resilient force. He suddenly opened his eyes, a cold glint flashing in them. His hands quickly formed seals, and the power of the Divine Power surged through his body, slashing fiercely at the illusion like a sharp sword.
"Hmph, trying to trap me? Wishful thinking!" Chu Mochen snorted coldly. The teleportation array shone brightly under his power, almost losing control. He was extremely anxious, with only one thought in his mind - to find Yun Yao, no matter where she was, no matter how difficult the road ahead.
Just as the Well of Fate was about to close, Chu Mochen, relying on the deep soul bond between him and Yun Yao, rushed into the well like a flash of golden lightning. He immediately saw Yun Yao, the woman who looked like a fairy in the light, holding an ancient book in her hands, her eyes firm and resolute.
"Yao'er!" Chu Mochen shouted, his figure teleporting to her side like a ghost, and he hugged her tightly in his arms, as if he wanted to merge her into his own flesh and blood. His arms were firm and warm. Yun Yao leaned against his chest, listening to his strong heartbeat, and the fatigue and fear she had felt along the way instantly dissipated.
"I knew that no matter how many worlds there were, I could find you." Chu Mochen whispered in her ear, his voice trembling slightly. It was the gratitude for surviving the disaster, and also a vow to never be separated in the future.
Yun Yao raised her head, tears and smiles intertwined in her eyes, and nodded gently: "Well, let's work together to rewrite fate and repair the way of heaven." The two held hands and looked at the ancient book floating in the air, as if they saw a long and arduous journey in the future, but there was no trace of retreat in their eyes, only the courage to move forward.
A light shone above the ancient book, as if sensing the two's determination. It slowly turned a new page, and lines of golden text emerged: "To mend the way of heaven, one must gather three thousand fragments of the law and first seek the breath of the first opening of chaos. It is hidden in a desperate place, and only those with true companionship and spiritual connection can obtain it..."
Yun Yao and Chu Mochen exchanged a glance, each one etched with solemnity and determination. They knew this was a sign from Heaven, the beginning of a far more difficult test. But at this moment, their fingers clasped together, their hearts connected, as if nothing in the world could separate them.
"No matter where this desperate place is, we will go and give it a try." Chu Mochen spoke first, his tone filled with unquestionable dominance.
Yun Yao smiled slightly, her smile like the warm spring sun, dispelling the last trace of haze in the Well of Fate: "Okay, let's go together."
With that, the two men, their spiritual energy surging through them, transformed into a stream of light, and rushed towards the wellhead. Behind them, the Well of Fate slowly closed, as if sealing this thrilling experience, yet also as if anticipating their next return. And before them lay an unknown world, countless mysteries waiting to be solved, and the new starting point of an adventure that hinged on the survival of the Three Thousand Worlds...
The two rushed out of the well and found themselves in a desolate land. The wind was howling and gravel was flying in their faces like hidden weapons. The sky was covered with dark clouds, lightning and thunder, as if the heavens and the earth were angry at the challenge they were about to face.
"The spiritual power here is disordered. There must be some powerful restriction." Chu Mochen frowned and looked around vigilantly.
Yun Yao nodded, forming hand seals, and attempting to mobilize her spiritual energy to explore her surroundings. However, she found it was lost to a mysterious force, devoured by it. "It seems this desperate place is indeed extremely dangerous. We must proceed with caution."
At this moment, the ground suddenly shook violently, and huge cracks spread out like a spider web, spewing out black mist. Faint bursts of shrill roars came from the mist, like the roars of evil spirits from hell.
"What is this?" Yun Yao exclaimed and subconsciously moved closer to Chu Mochen.
Chu Mochen protected her behind him, unsheathing the long sword in his hand. The sword body hummed, and the power of the origin of the divine court flowed along the sword body, emitting a dazzling light: "Don't be afraid, I am here."
As the fog thickened, indistinct monsters emerged from it. They were enormous, wrapped in black chains, with heads that resembled animals, eyes that gleamed blood-red, fangs bared, and a nauseating stench.
"Hmph, they are just some evil creatures corroded by resentment. Let me see how I subdue them today!" Chu Mochen shouted, and rushed towards the group of monsters like lightning. The long sword in his hand swung out sharp sword energy. Wherever it went, the monsters screamed and disappeared.
Seeing this, Yun Yao, unwilling to be outdone, mobilized the power of her lotus heart, and a silver lotus emerged from the air. Its petals spun out like flying knives, precisely striking the monsters' vital points. The two of them worked in perfect harmony, and for a moment, they suppressed the horde of monsters, forcing them to retreat.
However, the monsters seemed endless, and after killing one group, another group appeared. Yun Yao gradually felt her spiritual power was exhausted, sweat beads on her forehead, and her face became increasingly pale.
"Yao'er, hold on!" Chu Mochen noticed her abnormality and became extremely anxious. He rushed back to her regardless of everything and transferred a powerful spiritual power into her body.
"I'm fine, we can't stop." Yun Yao gritted her teeth and insisted, with stubbornness in her eyes.
Just as the two were struggling to hold on, a strange light suddenly descended from the sky, and within it seemed to be a blurry figure. The figure gradually became clearer, revealing an old man in an ancient robe. He had white hair and a kind face, but his eyes revealed an endless vicissitudes of life.
"Stop, children." The old man spoke softly, his voice resounding through the heavens and earth like a huge bell. When the monsters heard the voice, they stopped attacking and crawled on the ground, as if they were in great awe of the old man.
"Who are you?" Yun Yao asked doubtfully.
The old man smiled faintly: "I am the spiritual master who protects this place. Are you here for the Breath of Chaos?"
Chu Mochen nodded: "That's right, I hope you can help me, this concerns the fate of the three thousand worlds."
The old man sighed softly, "I have guarded this place for a thousand years, waiting for the right person. Today, I see that you two are working together and have a deep friendship. I have lived up to my expectations. However, the aura of the nascent chaos is extremely overbearing. If you are not careful, you will be reduced to ashes. Do you have the resolve?"
Yun Yao and Chu Mochen exchanged a glance and said in unison, "Even if it means we'll be torn to pieces, we'll give it a try!"
A hint of appreciation flashed in the old man's eyes: "Okay, in that case, then follow me."
With that, the old man waved his sleeves, and a portal of light appeared out of thin air. A mysterious light flickered within. Yun Yao and Chu Mochen took a deep breath and stepped into the portal hand in hand. They knew that the true test had just begun...
Beyond the light gate lay a strange space, a place where there was no distinction between heaven and earth. Multicolored light flowed from top to bottom, left to right, like the primordial fluid of chaos at the dawn of the universe. In the center of the space, a fist-sized ball of light hovered, its glow gleaming like stars, and seemingly imbued with an endless life force – the very breath of chaos.
"This is..." Yun Yao exclaimed, her eyes full of shock.
"Be careful, don't get too close." Chu Mochen reminded. He could feel the violent power contained in this breath.
However, just as they approached, something unexpected happened. The light surrounding the Breath of Chaos suddenly twisted, transforming into sharp blades that swept towards the two.
"Not good!" Chu Mochen shouted, protecting Yun Yao behind him and blocking the attack with all his might with his sword. But the shining blades were too powerful, each one seemed to be able to split the sky and earth, and Chu Mochen's sword actually began to crack.
"Let's do it together!" Seeing this, Yun Yao, regardless of her own safety, stood side by side with Chu Mochen. The two of them clasped their hands tightly, gathering all the strength in their bodies to form a protective shield.
The radiant blades continuously struck the shield. The two gritted their teeth and persevered, their spiritual energy gushing out like a flood. Yun Yao felt her vision go dark, and her consciousness gradually blurred, but a voice in her heart shouted: Don't give up!
Just as they were about to collapse, the silver lotus seed between Yun Yao's eyebrows suddenly shone brightly, and a mysterious force surged into their bodies. Simultaneously, Chu Mochen's divine power also responded, and a layer of golden and silver light intertwined with each other appeared on their bodies. That light was like the fetal membrane at the beginning of chaos, indestructible.
Under the protection of this power, the radiant blade gradually dissipated. The two took the opportunity to rush towards the Breath of Chaos. The moment they touched it, a tremendous force overwhelmed them. Their vision went dark, and they lost consciousness...
After an unknown amount of time, Yun Yao slowly woke up and found herself in a warm embrace. She looked up and saw Chu Mochen, who was looking at her with concern.
"You're awake, that's great." Chu Mochen's voice was full of joy.
Yun Yao looked around and found themselves in a tranquil valley, filled with birdsong and the fragrance of flowers. The air was thick with spiritual energy. In their hands, they held the aura of primordial chaos. Now, it had transformed into two crystal-clear beads, each melting into their palms and merging with their spiritual energy.
"We succeeded..." Yun Yao murmured, her eyes filled with tears of joy.
"Well, this is just the first step. There is still a long way to go." Chu Mochen stroked her hair gently with a firm tone.
The two stood up and gazed into the distance. They knew the road ahead would be thorny, but as long as they walked hand in hand, nothing could stop them from restoring the Way of Heaven. At that moment, a gentle breeze blew through the valley, and petals drifted down, as if cheering for their hardships and victories along the way, and offering blessings for the new journey they were about to embark on...
