Chapter 308: Awakening
Chapter 308: Awakening
Monica Jacobs’s eyes were tightly closed, her face slightly more flushed, her breathing shallow. Maya Monroe felt a bit relieved.
"Maya, you’re so busy with filming, and Ian also has such a big company to manage. You both should go back to work, I’ll take care of your mom here."
Jasper Monroe stepped up to smooth the hair on Monica’s forehead, his gaze gentle, then he turned his head: "Maya, Monica’s condition has improved a lot. You don’t need to worry, go back."
"Dad, I’ve already adjusted my schedule. I couldn’t be at ease if I’m not here watching over."
Ian Rowe spoke at the right time: "I’m not busy either. The assistants handle all the work, I can stay here."

Vincent Summers suddenly sneezed. He picked up his coffee and took a big gulp; it was definitely not for enjoyment.
Resigned, he opened a file and dealt with it according to Ian Rowe’s requirements.
The sound of knocking on the door was heard, and in the next moment, Assistant Liu appeared in the office, placing a stack of documents on the table: "Assistant Vincent, don’t forget you have a partnership meeting to discuss this afternoon. Mr. Rowe wants you to go in his place."
"I, I... How come there’s still a partnership meeting this afternoon?!" Seeing Assistant Liu’s hesitant expression, Vincent Summers irritably scratched his head, not making it difficult for him: "Alright, pass the information to me."
Assistant Liu responded, "Okay."
Assistant Liu chatted with Vincent Summers for a bit, not forgetting to inquire about the situation: "Hey, where do you think Mr. Rowe has gone? Yesterday’s video conference was held at midnight, and today he didn’t even come in. He never slacked off like this before, it’s really peculiar."
"Who knows, maybe he’s with his wife..." Vincent Summers mumbled, then stopped: "I’m just joking, Mr. Rowe is very serious about work, no one can match that."
"Of course, I know Mr. Rowe wouldn’t skip work for no reason. I’m just curious about this situation."
Vincent Summers leaned back, resting against the chair: "Ah... I’ve always envied how rich Mr. Rowe is, but let me tell you, this job is really not easy. I can put up with it for a day, but I’ll never dare to dream of being a chairman in the future."
Assistant Liu nodded in agreement: "Indeed, Mr. Rowe’s position is not easy."
Vincent Summers vented a bit, then resignedly continued with his work.
"Actually, being a driver is quite relaxing."

Around two in the afternoon, Monica Jacobs finally woke up, causing everyone around to become extremely excited.
"Monica, you finally woke up." Jasper Monroe trembled as he held Monica’s hand.
Maya also expressed her concern: "How are you feeling now? Do you feel any discomfort anywhere?"
Monica managed a weak smile, her lips still a bit pale: "I’m fine, don’t worry about me." She forced herself to sit up, and Maya quickly found a pillow for her to lean against.
Unexpectedly, Monica coughed twice, then wobbled as she got out of bed.
Everyone around was quite startled, and Jasper Monroe immediately supported her back to bed: "What are you trying to do? You’re so weak you can’t even walk, don’t you know that?!"
Worry and anxiety caused Jasper Monroe to lose his usual gentle demeanor, becoming irritable.
"Tell me what you want to do, and we can do it when you’re better, alright?"
Seeing Monica continue to cough, Maya quickly poured her a glass of water: "Mom, let’s drink some water first. Dad made a good point, the most important thing for you now is to get better, nothing else matters more."
Monica took the glass but didn’t drink, gripping it tightly, her eyes showing a hint of pale stubbornness: "I want to find Kiki! Find my daughter!!"
The last sentence, she almost said it word by word.
"It must be Tristan Rowe who shamelessly lured Kiki away. I need to find Kiki, find her..."
"I can’t lose her again..."
Jasper Monroe’s face darkened, not knowing how to explain or persuade.
As Monica attempted once more to lift the covers, Jasper Monroe stepped forward to tightly grasp her hand, his tone difficult and strained: "I forgot to tell you, Kiki has already contacted me. She said that she’s facing some difficulties now, but she’ll definitely come home when she finds the opportunity."
"Are you serious?" Monica gradually stopped her struggles, asking absentmindedly.
Jasper Monroe averted his gaze, unable to bear looking at Monica any longer: "...How could I lie to you?"
It seemed Monica took him seriously and, after a long silence, became agitated again: "Bring me the phone, fetch me the phone! I need to contact Kiki, I need to contact her!!"
Jasper Monroe did not move.
She pushed against Jasper Monroe beside her, her voice taking on a sharpness from the overexertion: "Go, hurry up!"
Maya approached, hugging Monica and soothingly lowering her voice to calm her emotions: "Mom, calm down, calm down..."
"I will always be your daughter..."
While embracing Monica, Maya was also drawing warmth from her.
The indifference that had been missing seemed to come alive once more at that moment, like the grievances and pain that couldn’t find release before, so much left unsaid.
Hearing what Maya said, Monica embraced Maya back, almost wailing: "My daughter, my daughter, you’re my daughter..."
Ian Rowe and Jasper Monroe stood quietly to the side, not interrupting.
Once Monica’s emotions settled, Maya released her embrace.
Maya wiped all of Monica’s tears away, Monica blinked, feeling her vision becoming somewhat sticky.
"You’re right, Kiki is now tangled up in difficult matters, I shouldn’t disturb her."
She said this, her eyes revealing a clarity that seemed to see through everything. Yet, she said nothing more, just rubbed her forehead, and after a moment uttered:
"I’m a bit tired."
Monica said she didn’t want others staying in the room to disturb her, so they left and gently closed the door.
Jasper Monroe seemed to breathe a sigh of relief: "I was really afraid, your mom’s nerves are so fragile, I just fear she wouldn’t be able to handle it..."
They descended the stairs.
He sighed again: "I don’t know how long this lie can hold up, let’s take it one step at a time."
"I hope Kiki will come back and visit."

Old Residence
"Wasn’t he abroad? Why has he come over? At this stage, why would he still show up?"
Fiona Rowe murmured quietly, soon silenced by a glance from Howard Rowe.
Fiona Rowe pouted: "What, are people not allowed to talk about the things he did?"
She no longer used polite terms, simply referring to him as "he."
Not far away, the person seemed to sense something, turning slightly to smile, then heading upstairs with his bodyguards.
This person was Tristan Rowe.
